We take immense pride in serving military professionals. With years of experience, we offer tailor-made programs designed to support and advance your career within the armed forces, as well as in civilian paths.

Whether you are in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army, Royal Air Force, Reserves, we can help to support and advance your career within the armed forces, as well as in civilian career paths. We provide officer training courses to International Defence Forces too. Wherever you’re based, we can offer you flexible, enriching study at our world-class facilities on campus, access to highly qualified tutors who are experts in their field, and distance learning options to support you through every step of your qualification.

We support injured and recovering personnel in work placements through our links with Help for Heroes and Haslar Company and our partnership agreements with the Corporate Covenant and UNSWIS. In addition we support paralympic training and our researchers are working with the International Invictus Games Foundation to explore the role of sport in the rehabilitation process.

We host regular sports performance camps for international and elite teams, including the Ghanaian Olympic Squad, Namibian Rugby, Exeter Chiefs Rugby, GB Combined Services Rugby League and Royal Navy Rugby Union teams. We’ve worked with these teams ahead of the Olympics, Rugby World Cup and inter-service competitions respectively. With fast-track entry routes, part-time and blended learning, and military accommodation available in the local area, we’re your best bet for continued career excellence.

What our students are saying

Tim Scrivener, Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer (Physical Trainer)

“I enrolled on to the BSc Sport and Exercise Science Degree to expand my knowledge and experience in a subject I am passionate about and practice as a job. Initially, I was nervous about my limited academic skills, but this was immediately dispelled on the first day with the support from the tutors, which continued throughout the course. The course was challenging but there was always sufficient time allocated and facilities available to meet deadlines, with tutors always on hand to offer advice and assistance. This made for an enjoyable and very rewarding experience. I would highly recommend the course to anyone who is invested in expanding their knowledge and skills, and for me, it also offered an opportunity to add recognition and value to my current working experience.”

Sgt Pascal Zgambo, RAF Halton

“ The freedom to conduct self-study at my own pace around my very demanding job within the Royal Air Force which involves extensive travel around the world. Tutor support is readily available coupled with the ability to schedule online tutorials at a time convenient to myself. I am able to relate and reflect on my current profession practices directly to my programme and vice versa, influencing how I teach my students and my own Continuous Professional Development.”

Armed Forces student Paul Todd

Paul Todd, CPOPT

“The part-time Strength & Conditioning course provided me with the skills to look critically at the PT syllabus provided for Royal Navy recruits and members of Royal Navy Board and Search Teams to ensure that the PT delivered was suitable to provide robust and resilient sailors fit for frontline duty. My whole experience with Marjon has been exceptionally positive, the lecturing staff are extremely knowledgeable and were approachable throughout. I would recommend the University to anyone wanting to gain higher education in an environment that understands the needs and commitments of the Armed Forces”.
